Ten years ago, the SASSI 30 started with an idea: gather a few friends, walk the Jervis Bay coastline, and raise some money for women and children escaping crisis in the Shoalhaven.

This year, on 8 August, hundreds of us will do exactly that again, and together we’ll push SASSI 30 past $100,000 raised for SASSI’s Nowra Women’s Refuge since it began.
It’s easy for fundraising and donations to feel abstract, unclear what benefit or outcome they actually create in the grander scheme of things.
Here is what donations and fundraising have delivered, in real terms, for women and children living in crisis accommodation:
- A day trip to Mogo Zoo
- School holiday programs and Christmas experiences
- A sanctuary garden at the refuge
- Internet access installed on site
- A children’s playground
Every one of these came from someone registering, walking, and asking their friends and family to sponsor them.
SASSI 30 – The Walk Itself
The SASSI 30 starts at White Sands Park in Huskisson, tracing the coast to Plantation Point at the 7km mark, before continuing on to finish at Hyams Beach.
The path from White Sands Park to Plantation Point is fully accessible, so whether you’re walking, running, wheeling, or pushing a pram, you can take part.
You choose your own distance and your own pace. Some don’t walk at all and simply donate. All of it counts.

How To Get Involved
- Set up a fundraising page and ask your network to sponsor your walk
- Simply donate, no walking required, every contribution goes straight to SASSI clients
Registrations starts from $25, and every dollar beyond that goes further than you might think.
Be part of the next $100,000
SASSI 30 has already changed what’s possible for families at the Nowra Women’s Refuge.
This year, on 8 August, we’re asking you to help us keep going.
